Three lecturers from the College of Transport & Communications, Shanghai Maritime University - Yang Jinhua, Zheng Wenjia, and Kong You – have recently returned to China after completing a three-week, full-time English-taught course delivery for the 2026 batch of the Bachelor of Logistics Management offshore programat Regional Maritime University (RMU) in Ghana.
The three faculty members taught the three courses respectively: International Shipping Management & Logistics, International Trade, and Intermodal Transport Organization & Management.Their interactive, practice-oriented teaching was well received by RMU students and faculty.
Now in its 16th year, the program has seen SMU send teaching teams every year since its launch, with bilateral cooperation continuing to deepen.
During their stay, the SMU team was warmly received by RMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jethro Wilbert Brooks Jr., who expressed gratitude for SMU’s long?standing support. Both sides discussed academic operations and student progress, and exchanged views on teaching challenges.
At RMU’s coordination, the team visited the College of Humanities at the University of Ghana. They shared institutional profiles and learned about student composition and degree structures, exploring potential future collaboration.
Beyond teaching, the team conducted field research at Tema Port, a key West African hub, and a local ship yard. Port and yard authorities expressed initial interest in cooperation with SMU on staff training and operational optimization. The site visits provided valuable case studies for future classes.
